Constructors Evenings

Some years back we used to hold a constructors evening and, at one stage, we even decided on a group project to build a noise bridge, purchased kits of parts to do so but after a few meetings the3 numbers dropped off and we dropped the additional meeting each month.

Recently it was decided to resurrect the idea and to date we have had a good number attending.

Essentially anyone can bring anything they are working on along and with any luck find someone able to lend them a hand to progress their project along more quickly with additional expertise on tap, so to speak.

To date old valve radio stets, fishing pole antennas and extensive antenna discussions have taken place. Now, it has been decided that having an HF radio available on site would be a good idea and, as luck would have it Ian has a large converted van available which has the ability to support a mast as a radio = the need to have an aerial and the aerial needs a sky hook and we don’t have any permanent supports in place on site.

Recently Bob G4EIK demonstrated the home manufacture of a printed circuit board which could help those wishing to start more serious home construction projects. Bob is more than willing to lend a hand to anyone wishing to make their first project board so don’t be too shy to ask for his help!

On evenings when no project appears requiring help or there is no demonstration talk the evening becomes a social gathering and natter session, something we all enjoy.

Why don’t you come along to see us?

The Constructors Evenings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at Gweal Am Top School, School Lane, Redruth from around 19.30Hrs onwards.
